Neutron activation analysis, thin section microscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy were used to describe early ceramic finds from Canapote, Colombia. The study yields three major groups. Although the material is severely weathered, original firing conditions can be assessed. The results are discussed together with the excavation stratigraphy and stylistic arguments.
