Abstract
The 18th-century musician George Berg was also a chemist who made numerous experiments in glassmaking. His notebooks are described and contents outlined: he lists ingredients tried in each experiment, and the results obtained, his sources of chemicals and prices paid. The notebooks are now in the archives of Royal Brierley Crystal at Stourbridge, England. He used furnaces for his experiments at the glass-making houses of Falcon, Whitefriars and Whitechapel in London.
