Abstract
Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and x-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) methods were used to determine some elemental concentrations and the mineralogy in sherds from the Pre-Beaker and Beaker levels of a Chalcolithic settlement located at Ferreira do Alentejo. Clays from the area were also analyzed. The results show that the Pre-Beaker and Beaker sherds have similar compositional patterns. They also reveal that the ceramics from both levels were very probably made locally.
