Abstract
Wool was treated for five periods up to one hour in ammonia at 37°C. and 70°C. Changes in chemical constitution as seen in infrared spectra characteristic of ten chemical bonds are tabulated. Changes in fiber strength, birefringence, whiteness and surface topography are recorded. -- AATA
