Abstract
A discussion of a type of lining first carried out at the Riksantikvaren (Oslo) in 1978. Lomacoll, a foil consisting of a transparent fiber-cloth with an adhesive substance on a polyacrylate base was used for the lining fabric. It is nearly chemically neutral, does not contain any sulphur or chlorinated components, tolerates temperatures from 20°C to 120°C, and does not contain any evaporating materials so it remains constantly sticky. The foil can be removed either manually or with a solvent such as toluene. It has been used to line both paintings and works of art on paper with satisfactory results.
