During the past year, the Colour Conservation Department of the Danish National Museum has worked at perfecting color-section and thin-section techniques. The processing of color sections involves casting, the sanding and polishing of both rough and fine textured color samples, and the further processing of color sections into thin-sections. For documentation, the color sections and thin-sections are photographed through the microscope using ordinary light, filters, and ultraviolet polarization. A short description of tests made with various casting materials is also given.
