Abstract
Photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) has potential as a non-destructive tool in characterizing and identifying pigmented materials encountered in art conservation practice. The mechanics of the technique are explained, followed by a discussion of its application in optimizing selective laser treatment of polychromatic materials. See AATA 19-956.
