Abstract
Through experimentation, the effects of poor processing were found to be relatively unimportant in the deterioration of albumen photographic prints. The fading and yellowing of prints are largely explained by albumen's susceptibility to moisture and by a natural reaction, theMaillard reaction, within the albumen. Proper storage and display of prints are outlined with emphasis upon maintenance of a low relative humidity. See also AATA 17-1648 and AATA 19-956.
