Abstract
The sensitivity of pressure-volume hysteresis energy is discussed as a useful measure of degrees of durability among various oolitic limestones used in the restoration of historic buildings. Pressure and volume are affected by the polycrystalline calcium carbonate in the interoolitic spaces. Interpretation of porosimetry data, polycrystalline tests, and microscopic examination contribute to distinguishing degrees of durability. See AATA 19-956.
