Pietro Palmaroli became famous in 1809 for the detachment, at the request of the French government in Rome, of the fresco of Daniele da Volterra which represents the deposition of the Cross in l'Eglise de la Trinite de Monts. After the fall of Napoleon in 1814, P. Palmaroli worked in Rome for the Pope; he was called in 1826 to Dresden, where Carl Christian Vogel von Voegelstein made a drawing of him. He died in Rome in 1828 at the age of 61.
