Abstract
Detailed description of exhuming a 14-16 year old girl from a flower bed grave in historic monument church notes that due to exploratory trenches throughout the church whole tomb could not be removed as an earth block. A case was designed to transport the remains. Cleaning of the apparel involved several steps which are explained. A problem with the hairpiece developed: a year after initial treatment, softening was again needed, after which treatment bacteria cultures were found; Treatment of salicyl acid in an alcohol solution was applied. The garments were disassembled; Thorough cleaning preceded examination of separate materials to identify: dimensions, fabric structure, warp and weft density, knitting characteristics, pattern elements, and the dyes. Materials and procedures used in the restoration of the garment are explained. Dating by the style of the dress placed the burial in the third quarter of the sixteenth century; a buried coin supported such a date.
