X-ray examination of art is useful for the identification of material, determining the condi-tion of the work, monitoring the aging process, observing the mounting methods, assessing internal damage (including motorized objects). Special problems presented by modem art works are large, bulky items; weak supports; monochrome surfaces; and collages. The Transiskop helps in dealing with these problems.
