It has been concluded that a number of Mexican ceramic objects, mostly anthropomorhpic figures, in the monumental Veracruz style of the late Classic period (AD 600 to 900) in several U.S. museums are in fact the creations of a modern forger. The main scientific method used in the work was thermoluminescence testing, the principles of which are summarized, even though it is difficult to apply in this case, and gives only a poor accuracy. Stylistic factors were also considered. -- AATA
