A call for the systematic microscopic examination of the remains from cesspits, etc., as they provide detailed evidence for trade, diet, gardening, and cooking. Remains can include seeds from fruit, herbs, spices, vegetables; pollen from plants and drink remains; parasite ova, fly pupae and other insect pests. Case histories are provided. -- AATA
