The condition reporting process is described for small museums not only as a necessary part of the loan process but also as a means to pinpoint deterioration within the museum. Responsibilities of the lender and borrower are enumerated along with the place of the condition report in loan procedures. Condition reporting is also recommended for artifacts placed on exhibit or about to be conserved, and as part of planning a conservation program.
