Scottish geological collections are neglected and little interest shown in them. This article discusses the best organisational context for providing services for the care geological collections. The author argues that the Scottish Museums Council (SMC) is the body to set up a regional service. He discusses Scottish problems with reference to those in England the common needs of museums with geological collections and the setting up of a regional conservation service. 14 references.
