Abstract
Discusses ceramics dating from the middle of the 12th century to the early 15th century preserved at the Castello, Bari; Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Taranto; Museo Nazionale Domenico Ridola, Materna; the Castello, Gioia del Colle. They fall into two main groups: pottery decorated with lines; glazed pottery with decoration in green and red, or only in red. The same decorative patterns appear on engobe with greenish-yellow glazing or on stanniferous coating of the same color. Thus, it is often difficult to distinguish the two types, especially as the percentage of tin is low. The two types are those most commonly found in Apulia and southern Italy in general. The great number of finds suggests there were many centers of production in this area; shapes and patterns differed even within the same region. -- AATA
