Abstract
Study of the chemical composition of rainfall in the Sydney area (Botany Bay), designed to show the nature and quantities of the substances present in the atmosphere of the suburbs of Sydney. The period of the study, from October 1973 to November 1974, coincided with one of the wettest periods in the history of Australia. The samples show a high concentration not only of sea salts, calcium, and sulfate but also -- something rarely found in Europe and the United States -- of nitrate. This nitrate seems to derive from plants specific to the Australian environment (eucalyptus). -- AATA
