Methods for washing fiberfill items are modified to minimize any mechanical actions that cause shifting, tearing, or matting of the batting. The weight of the load is also decreased because the fiberfill collapses in heavy loads. High water levels allow for more efficient soil dilution, compensating somewhat for the decrease in mechanical action. Shorter cycles and minimal amounts of detergent are also required.
