Potential danger of explosive projectiles in collections is mentioned. Such projectiles for small arms date from the mid-19th century. Possible instability of the explosive through aging as well as danger from dropping are mentioned, as well as some clues for identifying such projectiles. It is noted that explosive projectiles larger than. 50 caliber probably contain more than S4-ounce of explosive and, in the U.S., are classed as destructive devices and come under the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968. -- AATA
