Abstract
The reader is warned against the solvent powers of polyethylene glycols. Their use has been suggested in restoration of paintings and for the wax relining of paintings. Nevertheless, it is likely that their solvent power might dissolve the varnish and soften the paint. Polyethylene glycols have given excellent results with waterlogged wood, but it is possible that they might affect inscriptions. Normally Carbowax 4000 is used for wood treatment. -- AATA
