Abstract
Since 2004, an experimental intervention has been carried out in the vault of the Santos Juanes church which is located in Valencia (Spain). The aim of this work is the restoration of some mural paint fragments located in the vault. The process entailed important technical difficulties, and it was necessary to develop specific methodologies for their cleaning and consolidation. After analysing several chromatic restitution possibilities, it has been concluded that it is necessary to make a pictorial reconstruction by means of inserting a digitally treated photographic image of the vault. This technique permits us to reassess the original mural paint fragments and recover the complete set of the vault. To achieve this, the current methodology consists in the following steps: - Rectification, straightened and scaled up of the Santos Juanes Church vault photography which was taken by J. Alcon. – Chromatic reconstruction of the vault photography. – Developing a system that allows to transfer ink from an ink jet impression on a temporary support to a definitive support of the type wall plastering.
