Abstract
Describes procedures for preserving and dyeing marine algae for botanical museum display in habitat groups. A mixture of glycerine, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone (2:1:1) colored to match the living specimen with Rit fabric dyes constituted the preservative fluid in which specimens were soaked for two weeks. After drying specimens retained flexibility and color under accelerated aging in ultraviolet light.
