Abstract
Wet cleaning is the cleaning of an apparel item in cool water (85 to 120°F), using neutral synthetic detergent (pH 7), with a minimal amount of mechanical action (usually soaking, and occasionally a gentle squeezing action), and some form of air drying. There are four main areas to consider when setting up a wet cleaning department: supplies for testing garments, supplies and/or small accessory tools, equipment used in wet cleaning, and utilities needed for wet cleaning. A brief description of each area is presented.
