Abstract
When a 1989 flood undermined the embankment in front of Russell Cave, a portion of the embankment slumped exposing significant archaeological deposits. This brief report describes the initial emergency measures and the more permanent installation of a Geo-Web honeycomb geotextile reinforcement under the guidance of the Tennessee Valley Authority's Archaeological Resources Protection Division and the National Park Service Southeastern Archaeological Center.
