Abstract
In this study of a particular print in the Ashmolean Museum collection, the authors summarize the main categories and types of counterproofs (i.e., impressions pulled from prints whose ink has not yet dried), discussing both accidental counterproofs and deliberate ones. Mention is made of the use of counterproofs in the production of forgeries. -- AATA
