Abstract
The value of watermarks and mouldmarks, and their variation, in the study of paper is pointed out. The author advances convincing evidence that, contrary to the opinion of many bibliographers and scholars, paper can be of use in solving problems concerning manuscripts and printed books. One point made is that papermarks are not accurately reproduced by tracings, and that only some form of photography or photographic reproduction is useful for precise comparison. -- AATA
