Abstract
Other resins (e.g. Manila copal) interfere with the reactions in the normal diphenylamine test for the detection of nitrocellulose. These difficulties are overcome by using a Griess reagent (in the detection of nitrous acid or nitrogen trioxide). This is a mixture of sulphanilic acid and alpha naphthylamine in acetic acid. -- AATA
