The <i>HMS DeBraak</i> sank in 1798. The hull and artifacts were buried in silt and were unusually well preserved due to the anaerobic conditions. Under the leadership of the Delaware Divison of Historical and Cultural Affairs, an interdisciplinary team was formed to study more than 20,000 objects in the DeBraak collection. Findings include clothes, shoes, ceramics, food, medicines, dominoes and cannon. The wood anatomist from the Winterthur Museum and Art Conservation Program is carrying out wood identification.
