Abstract
The combination of energy-dispersive x-ray analysis and electron diffraction can yield relatively fast and accurate identification of crystalline microparticles. If a combination instrument is not available, carbon-coated finder grids may be used as the sample substrate to facilitate particle relocation after transfer of the sample between instruments. The speed of the energy-dispersive analyses can be significantly increased by using precalibrated pure-element intensities. Some experimental problems are discussed. -- AATA
