Abstract
The Textile Museum in Washington, DC, is exhibiting its Spanish rug collection, noted for the number, age, and condition of the pieces, as well as the rarity and range of patterns. Their age is from the 12th to the 17th centuries and the craft was established in Spain by Muslim Arabs, whose stylistic contributions are discussed here, as is the influence of their silk weaving patterns and of designs from other parts of the Islamic world. -- AATA
