Abstract
Variations in the appearances of stains are attributed to the stained fabric's fiber content, finish, and the amount of staining material. Stain identification can be achieved if stains are studied first on white fabric. Certain techniques, such as scratching, also help to identify stains. When testing a solvent or oily-type paint remover used to eliminate stains, apply the remover to the dry side of the fabric.
