Abstract
A study of the analysis of complex varnish mixtures is reported. Well tried analytical procedures (infrared spectroscopy, microscopy, and thin layer chromatography) were tested with known sample materials. Identification of all the components of a mixture is difficult, if not impossible with the techniques used. The main components could be identified with certainty however. -- AATA
