Abstract
New dyes were synthesized by grafting ultraviolet absorbers, e.g., benzophenone, benzotriazole, and oxalanilide, onto C.I. Disperse Yellow 86. The addition of photostabilizers improved sublimation fastness, but had less impact on lightfastness. Benzophenones proved more effective than benzotriazoles and oxalanilides in enhancing the lightfastness of C.I. Disperse Yellow 86. In general, lighfast nitro disperse dyes can be successfully synthesized by this method.
