A conservation method was developed at the Doerner Institute in Munich which utilizes real amber oil. The raw oil is distilled (dry) from amber residues and refined by steam distillation. This is done in the lab. The impregnation of the amber surfaces is done by brushing in 2-3 layers. Each layer must be thoroughly dry before application of the next one. R.W. -- AATA
