This survey of the agricultural, marine and mineral resources of Oman includes historical aspects of their exploitation from the Jemdat Nasr and Umman-Nar cultural periods onwards. The mineral survey is particularly illuminating as regards early copper metallurgy in the region and includes the details of ores, mining techniques, crushing, smelting, slags, and crucible fragments. Zinc ores also occur and appear to have been worked in antiquity. -- AATA
