Abstract
Particleboard made from (a) spruce (Picea abies), (b) pine (Pinus sylvestris) and (c) beech (fagus sylvatica) barks, using PF, UF and isocyanate binders, were exposed to termite (Heterotermes indicola and Reticulitermes flavipes) attack. In selective feeding tests, H. indicola caused mass losses of more than 80% of the PF and UF boards; isocyanate boards of (a) and (c) proved more resistant (50-70%). R. flavipes produced mass losses of up to: 40% in PF boards; 60% in UF boards; and 30% in isocyanate boards. -- AATA
