Abstract
A model of the tensile stiffness of paper was outlined in part one. Freeze drying experiments have been performed in order to study the activation. Handsheets with varying water content from pulp at three slowness levels were frozen in liquid nitrogen. The subsequent drying was done in vacuum at <ds>20°C. The results show that the tensile stiffness of the freeze dried sheets increases more than the more bonding dependent parameters, like load at rupture and the slope of the secondary part of the load- elongation curve, in the water content range where the activation is supposed to take place. The discussion in part one is continued.
