Abstract
Modern acrylic dispersion artist media were examined to determine causes of yellowing. Discoloration upon heat ageing and upon interaction with artist canvas substrates was reproduced, corroborating findings by Golden Artist Colors, Inc. Diffusion of colored, water soluble materials from the canvas into the media was determined to be the overriding cause. Diffusion coefficients of the water soluble materials through acrylic dispersion media were determined.
