Abstract
Majolica pottery is a specific ceramic technology that was introduced by the Muslims to Spain and then was diffused into the Western Hemisphere after the Spanish Conquest. This article describes a project involving neutron activation analysis of Spanish and Western Hemisphere majolica pottery that began in the 1970s and lasted until the early 1990s. The technology of majolica production is described in detail from materials analysis of Hispanic samples and Mexican samples. -- AATA
