Abstract
Very little attention has been given to preserving calcareous rocks and the monuments constructed of them. A few methods like applying organic polymers have been studied but they are found to be less effective. In this paper, discussion regarding weathering process as of the rocks by different agents particularly bio-degradation has been discussed, and a new method, applying inorganic polymer coatings has been suggested. The calcareous materials treated with inorganic polymers have been tested against bio-degradation and different weathering agents. It has been observed that the inorganic polymers are quite effective in arresting further deterioration. -- AATA
