Abstract
In order to assess the influence of soluble salts (especially NaCl and MgSO4) on the efficiency of a conservation treatment on a porous stone (in this case Vicenza stone), some samples of quarry stone have been soaked with saturated solutions of NaCl and MgSO4. Surface and deep treatments have been afterwards carried out on these samples with methylphenylpolysiloxane. The successive salt release, monitored by using a conductometric method, has been used to test the efficiency of the treatment. Water absorption tests have also been performed on a series of similarly saturated samples. -- AATA
