Work in progress from two concurrent programs of research on adobe is outlined. A five year field experiment under the supervision of New Mexico State Monuments (NMSM) is to derive results for future restoration projects, and provide baseline data for new construction; laboratory work at The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) is investigating high performance polymer systems applied to adobe. -- AATA
