Benzene (considered to have bone marrow toxicity and leukemogenic properties) has been detected in domestic paint strippers. An experiment was conducted in a two-car garage, simulating typical consumer exposure. The technique is described in detail. The data clearly indicated atmospheric concentrations in excess of OSHA standards. -- AATA
