Abstract
The chapters are as follows: 1) the American organ which includes bellows work, cyphering, whistling notes, running notes, vox humana stop, couplers and tuning, 2) the Harmonium which includes dismantling for repair, bellows, notes running, cyphering, percussion action, reed pan, stop valves, expression stop and general items and 3) General hints which includes care of the reeds, tuning the reeds, petrol for cleaning reeds, keys dropping, keys sticking, interior noises, several notes sounding, placing the instrument, advantages of the pedal reed organ, squeaking noises, actions and stops, cavity board unglued, tremulant slow in starting, difference between American organ and harmonium, the tremolo stop, wind valve not closing, percussion action, slowness of speech, rattles, squeaks, &c., the expression stop, and faulty pallets.
