Abstract
The methods of non-dispersive x-ray fluorescence used are described in detail, and a discussion of the more important areas of work, on pigments, glass and metals. Apart from single investigations, for authenticity, conservation, art history, large scale investigations have been carried out on such diverse objects as Egyptian bronzes and Medieval cannon. The uses and limitations of analysis in determining geological location and manufacturing center are discussed. -- AATA
