Abstract
This article describes how an historical society might organize and file the photographs it maintains. The broad steps which must be followed in this organization are: organize a general outline of the topics covered by the photographs, make a numbering system for the outline which leaves room for expansion of the collection, separate the photographs into envelopes numbering both the envelope and photograph, file in Fibredex boxes. Oversized items can be included by the use of reduced size photocopies. There is discussion of the acidity and sulfur content of paper which should be used, and of the mounting of photographs. The different kinds of negatives-nitrate base, safety base, glass plate-and their filing and maintenance are also mentioned.
