Abstract
A report on methyl methacrylate (MMA) treatment of heavily damaged wooden (oak) parts of the medieval giant gun, the so-called Lazy Maid (housed in the Army Museum, Dresden). Sufficient absorption of monomers was obtained by impregnation at normal pressure. A special process was applied for curing the MMA using flexible heat sources (strip heaters, electric blankets). The damaged parts of the structural units showed adequate strength after treatment. -- AATA
