Abstract
Methods for restoring gothic book bindings used in the Estonian State Art Museum, Tallin, are described. Discussed are methods which maintain the medieval character of the incunabula in restoration of damaged wooden covers, bindings with weakened spines, re-sewing of the text block, reinforcing of the first sections, restoration of damaged prta es, new headhands, softening old vegetable tanned leather and replacement of missing portions of covering leather.
