A detailed typological and technical examination of the sword suggests that it is a Middle Bronze Age Canaanite sword, rather than a Beth-Dagan Shatdanian type. A number of other Bronze Age swords from Palestine were also quantitiatively analyzed and also found to be of arsenical copper, with from 1 to 6.7% of arsenic in the interior rising to 28% on the surface.
